MMA

Mixed Martial Arts, MMA, has exploded in popularity over the last decade. MMA is a full contact combat sport that emphasizes both striking and grappling. Most traditional martial arts focus on one particular area. To be a good MMA fighter, one should be competent both standing up and on the ground.  Our classes will help you work on all aspects of your game.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, is a martial art with its origins in the ancient battlefields of the Thai army. Muay Thai features stand-up striking, kicks, elbows, knees, and standing grappling. Training places a heavy emphasis on fitness and toughness. MMA fighters around the world recognize Muay Thai as being a very effective striking base.

BJJ

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, BJJ, is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ training teaches that with proper technique and leverage, a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a much bigger, stronger opponent. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes getting an opponent to the ground and applying chokes or submissions.BJJ is a key component to a well-rounded MMA game.

Our classes are suitable for beginners to advanced.  Classes start with a warm-up period, then we will work on specific techniques and sequences.  Sometimes we will focus on take-downs and sometimes on the ground game.   We’ll finish off the class with two or three five minute rounds.

Submission Grappling

Submission Grappling is a martial art very similar to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but without the gi. Interest in submission grappling has grown steadily over the last several years and is becoming more and more popular as a serious martial art.

Our submission grappling classes follow roughly the same structure as the bjj classes.  We’ll start with a warm-up period, focusing on various drills.  Then we’ll get into techniques and sequences, building on previous classes and even offering a few tips and tricks for advanced grapplers.  We’ll end with a couple rounds and call it a day.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is somewhat of a hybrid martial art blending Muay Thai and Karate. In a general sense, kickboxing refers to all stand-up combat sports that involve punching and kicking.
